Is Your Playlist Fake? Deezer's New Free Tool Detects AI Music Anywhere

Deezer Launches Universal Tool to Detect AI-Generated Tracks Across Rival Music Services
Deezer has introduced a free online tool capable of scanning playlists across major rival platforms to identify AI-generated music. Available in 27 languages, the utility allows users of 20 popular streaming services—including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music—to cross-check their libraries for synthetic content.
🛡️ Taking an Aggressive Stance Against Synthetic Content
This launch solidifies Deezer’s position as one of the music industry’s most aggressive opponents of AI expansion. Unlike competitors like Apple and Spotify, which focus on tagging AI music, Deezer actively purges AI tracks from its recommendations, bars them from editorial playlists, and is exploring strict content bans similar to Bandcamp's policies. Led by CEO Alexis Lanternier, the company aims to establish itself as a transparent champion for human-made artistry.
📊 The Staggering Scale of AI Streaming Fraud
The necessity for such tools is underscored by Deezer’s own internal metrics, revealing that an astonishing 44% of all new music uploads to its platform are AI-generated. The service faces an influx of nearly 75,000 synthetic tracks daily (over 2 million monthly). Despite the massive volume, actual user engagement remains low at just 1% to 3% of total streams. Crucially, Deezer has flagged approximately 85% of these AI streams as fraudulent and has swiftly demonetized them.
